^FLW – BRADLEY HOUSE SKYLIGHT, C/8
In Wright’s early houses he included interior overhead skylights. Wright referred to them as “toplights.” Using natural color glass placed in lead-lined panels, they were placed in specific locations in the house to provide ambiance and gently light a room. The elongated geometric patterns designed for the B. Harley Bradley House are some of the most sophisticated he ever created. Six alternating panels were originally placed above the dining table area and contain elaborate use of linear and angular pieces of glass. Muted colors of amber, gold, soft green and white reflect colors associated with nature.
