Klimt’s The Tree of Life includes these themes with branches reaching upwards towards the heavens and roots reaching deep beneath the earth symbolizing the link between heaven, earth and the underworld below. There is a noticeable bird in the center; some say it is an owl representing wisdom, while others say it is a raven representing death. The tree is done in classic Klimt style with the swirling branches drawing up deep into the painting where one sees multiple images including geometric fruits, leaves and flowers that seem to be peering back at the viewer.
