Description
NIGHT, C/10
Michelangelo’s Night sculpture is one of a set of four related sculptures. It is situated on the left of the sarcophagus of the tomb of Giuliano de Medisi. Unlike the Day, Night is portrayed as a giantess with her features clearly carved in marble and her body curved in an uneasy way which Michelangelo thinks that Medici has not earned a peaceful uninterrupted rest. This is one of the few females sculptures complete by Michelangelo. Pair this with the ‘Day’ figurine. They will make a pair of beautiful décor for the house of any Renaissance Art enthusiast.
